Now, ask yourself, what sort of training am I doing?

  1. Cardio? If steady state, it is okay to be fasted for about a 45-minute session.

  2. Weights? Recommend eating 1-2 hours prior to workout. Protein and a clean carbohydrate would be best in order for your body to use the fuel as energy versus slowing you down. Example, protein shake with a small banana or chicken with roasted vegetables. A mini meal. Eating your biggest meal AFTER your workout is optimal because based off of your hormones, that is when your body is ready to restore itself to OPTIMAL levels, which means building muscle and burning fat

  3. HIIT Training? Recommend eating 2-3 hours prior to workout. Similar recommendations of content as above. This way, you will have fuel for your workout as opposed to feeling sluggish because you are still digesting or haven’t fueled properly for your body.

What is your goal? Gaining muscle? Losing body fat? Increasing your endurance? The above recommendations can help with all of those areas. However, every person is unique. Patience and consistency are two important factors.
