Are you ready to get wet?

It may not be sexy… but it is ESSENTIAL!

Dry skin + eyes?

Low energy?

Constipation?

You could be dehydrated!

Why YOU need more water:

  1. Detoxes body…

    • Our body is constantly flushing out toxins to keep us healthy. Toxins come from the environment, the food we eat, and things we put on our skin….

  2. Regulates body temperature

  3. Promotes MORE energy! Cells need water + oxygen… if they don’t have it they will feel fatigued

  4. Protects joints, spinal cord, muscles, and tissues because the body needs to be LUBRICATED

  5. Digestion + Absorption

    • You are what you eat…. WRONG, you are what you ABSORB! Water helps absorb vitamins + breakdown nutrients for cells health

  6. Research proves it helps with cognitive function. More focus + alertness + better memory? Sign me up!

  7. Constipated? You could be dehydrated, low in magnesium, and/or stressed. SO DRINK UP! :)

  8. Flawless skin + moist eyes… yes, this is true. Try it for yourself.

How much?

Simple - 1/2 your body weight in ounces + 8oz for every hour of exercise + sweat inducing activities ;)

***Coffee, alcohol, sparkling water + soda can actually dehydrate your body and does not count as water. However, research on coffee is mixed as to if it hydrates or dehydrates… either way it is not water.

Soups, broths, vegetables, and fruit can help with hydration but can’t replace the body’s need for water.

How to sustain hydration:

Let’s list some things you do every day…

  • Wake up

  • Brush your teeth

  • Eat

  • Check your phone

  • A particular meeting

  • Go for a walk, hopefully

  • What do you do every day?

I ask this because the best way to own a new habit is to pair it with something you already do every day!

Add a glass of water first thing before you get out of bed by putting one by your bedside table before bedtime.

Add a glass about 20 minutes before lunch, midday snack, and dinner.

Note: I don’t recommend adding a glass DURING meals… it dilutes digestive juices, which can cause digestive problem, yikes!

Add a glass before and after your daily walk.

That is already six glasses! Add one more during a meeting and you are set!

Other recommendations:

  • Get an app that reminds you + helps you keep track if you like to hit goals

  • Invite a friend for a challenge on reaching water goal

  • Carry a glass or bottle in your hand, you will drink subconsciously

  • Hold an open water bottle as you drive, you will also drink it subconsciously… is that safe? I don’t know…. you be the judge :)
