Beauty + Hygiene Product Recommendations

Did you know that your skin can be considered your "second mouth”?

So, if you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin! When we put things on our skin it absorbs immediately into our bloodstream.

The problem with this is that a lot of what we put on our skin is foreign + toxic to the body.

Estrogen mimicking molecules called Xenoestrogens, aka endocrine (hormone) disruptors, are ingredients that cause a downstream of dysfunction in the body (estrogen dominance = excess body fat, mood swings, sleeping disorders, inflammation, blocked detox pathways, etc…).

Research has been linking high amounts of Xenoestrogens to disease dynamics + hormone mediated cancers.

So what can you do? Beauty + hygiene products are a great place to start. After many trials, I recommend the below:

Body wash

Attitude will be recommended for a lot of these! The only product I did not love by them was the conditioner because it dried out my hair pretty badly… All products are found on their website or on Amazon. Click here to purchase from Amazon.

Shampoo + Conditioner

Moroccanoil Hydrating Conditioner, feel free to try attitude or other brands! This one is the best one I’ve used with an average rating on EWG, see below for more about EWG. My hair smells delicious, feels silky + luscious, and it is moderate on the EWG scale. I WILL TAKE IT!

This is where the 80/20 rule comes into play. :) All other products clean? Pick your poison.

Lotion

I use coconut oil if I am not going anywhere but Attitude takes the cake again. All scents smell yummy!

Face wash

Attitude strikes again!

Face scrub // masks

Cocokind is another AMAZING brand! Highly recommend all of their products. The face exfoliator is perfect to use daily for silky smooth skin. I’ll add some coconut oil to the face mask… and your face will be as soft as a baby’s butt!

Fake tan

Skinerals Californium Self Tanner Mousse - Sunless Bronzer will leave your skin dark! But also your hands, so be careful when applying. Smells okay too!

Beauty by Earth is another great one, but if you put lotion on top it may lessen the color. It smells delicious and leaves your skin soft. This one needs a few coats but be careful because a little goes a long way!

Face sunscreen + Face lotion

CerVe wins for face sunscreen and face lotion!

Body sunscreen

Babo works great! Attitude is a little better at a higher price point.

Deodorant

I love NATIVE! For men and women. This scent is so dreamy!!! It also doesn’t leave your armpits smelling gross like other natural ones do… it is fresh and wonderful.

Laundry detergent

Attitude clearly rocks my world. Yes, this is for “little ones” but why aren’t we treating ourselves like we treat our children with love + care?!

Make up

Better’n Ur Lashes Organic Mascara

Mineral Fusion is great on the EWG scale, and I’ve used + enjoyed a lot of their products. If using under-eye concealer, the foundation is great for that.

Bare minerals, I’ve been using for over fifteen years! I had an “emergency” and bought MAC one time and my face completely broke out. It was horrible. As a personal trainer + frequent sweater, I HIGHLY recommend it.
