New and IMPROVED Care Package

Talking with my friend that is currently deployed overseas about the experience he having with his fellow shipmates and noticed that there is a need for an updated care package. Some of the troops deployed do not even have internet + TV + podcasts, etc… and if they do, the service is not great.

He isn’t the first person in the military that I have spoken to about the health and wellness provided for them…. or lack there of… I am a firm believer on focusing on what we can control and do to help if we feel we cannot change the bigger situation at hand. With that said, if you have a loved one in the military they need to be healthy too! For obvious reasons plus, they are protecting and serving us, the least we can do is support in ways that promote better energy, health + happiness for them! And not just healthy through nutrition but through activities that bring them joy!

Joy reduces stress and promotes a better mood. So how can we provide more love and nourishment to those protecting us?

These are a few brainstorming ideas that you can include in your next care package to not only share gratitude but create more health and happiness for them! Feel free to comment on other ideas!

  • Books: What do they enjoy? Do they want to get lost in a story? My favorite book lately has been “Maybe You Should Talk to Someone” very lighthearted but beautiful story. “The Alchemist” is a classic! But I also love “The Untethered Soul”, which is a book in the mindfulness realm about moving through circumstances with peace. “Sapiens” is another popular book, more historic based.

  • Healthier snack bars: EPIC Bars, Rx Bars, Kind Bars

  • Nut butters: Make sure the “nut” and potentially “salt” are the only ingredients to reduce toxic load

  • Amazing Grass Powders: adding more vegetables + fruits to promote detox of toxins, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health… because we know they are not getting enough vegetables while deployed…

  • Protein powders: PlantFusion, Orgain or Ancient Nutrition

    • All pretty clean and taste YUMMY! Ancient Nutrition has bone broth protein, which helps improve overall gut health and health begins in the gut

  • Healthier preworkout alternatives: matcha powder (also has SOOOO many health benefits), Honey Badger, coffee in general…. maybe throw in some cinnamon for extra health benefits too!

  • Games: Catan, Taboo, What Do You Meme?, Monopoly, a deck of cards, dice, Scrabble, etc….

  • Art: Watercolors, paper, coloring pencils with sharpeners

  • Calming products: Essential oils like lavender, coconut oil (can be used as lotion to have health + happy skin), yummy tea
