Holiday Nutrition Tips + Tricks
Eight Ways to Survive the Holidays
1. Eat slow
Take this tip ANYTIME // ANYWHERE, not just the holiday season
Savor each moment, check in with yourself - it is easy to get lost in conversation and overeat!
Eat until satisfied, not stuffed like a turkey. :)
2. Continue workout routine
Keeps you in a rhythm and accountable
Improves sleep
Uses some of the excess calories as fuel vs. stored as fat

3. Stay hydrated
Helps flush out toxins
Reduce headaches, muscle cramps, and dry eyes
Improve energy and skin
How To:
Wake up and wash out, before you get out of bed - drink that big glass of water
Sneak in a glass before every meeting
Enjoy in between alcoholic beverages
Add an extra serving of vegetables
4. Eat well on the go
Carry snacks with you: Nuts, fruits, seeds, protein bars
Aim for “better”, not “perfect”
Eat the inside of a sandwich
Eat only half the amount of french fries
Swap side salad with light dressing instead of potatoes
Eat half for lunch the next day
5. Breakfast for the WIN!
What is the easiest meal for you to “control”? I recommend starting the day with a BANG! Get in those vegetables early with a yummy omelet, breakfast salad, or super smoothie
6. Power UP on vegetables
Think about what you can ADD to your day, not what you should takeaway
Provide the vegetable appetizer or side dish
It is another way to sneak in nutrients to reduce hangover, improve health, balance immune system, and ease stress on the body
7. Know what you love, ditch what you don’t
We should probably be doing this with most things in life… HOWEVER, what is YOUR favorite holiday treat?
Is it the homemade pumpkin pie, a special appetizer, or do you truly just LOVE Halloween candy?
This season, I invite you to take a mental note of your favorite holiday treats and skip the ones you munch on and regret later
If you truly love Costco cookies, then eat that! But if you prefer and dream about your friend’s perfect holiday cookie, then wait to savor that. Your body + mind will thank you later
Stick to what you love during the holiday season and skip the treats that don’t excite you!
8. FOOD IS JUST FOOD!
At the end of the day, FOOD IS JUST FOOD!
Instead of labeling foods + beverages as “good” or “bad”, reframe it as information
What information is this food or beverage giving to your body? Will it be energizing? Will it be nourishing? Will it be taxing or will it be uplifting? Take some mental notes this holiday season. What brings you joy before, during, and after?
