What do your gut & immune system have in common?

Have you heard that 70% of our immune system is in our gut?

What does that mean? & What can I do about it?

What does this mean?

That we need a healthy, diverse microbiome (gut bacteria) in order to keep our body healthy!

What can I do about it?

9 Tips to Support Your Gut & Immune System TODAY! :)

Pro Tip: Pick one to add at a time to keep it simple and sustainable.

  1. Hydrate! Good, clean water is essential to lubricate our gut + immune system

    1. At least 1/2 your body weight in ounces is recommended per day

  2. Eat probiotic rich foods. Think kimchi, sauerkraut, yogurt

  3. Floss daily. Bacteria from your mouth can get into your gut and cause issues.

  4. Add spices. Better tasting food? YES, PLEASE! Not only will spices like ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon enhance the flavor of your food and reduce cravings - it will also help support gut/immune health.

  5. Stretch. Stretch? Yes, stretching can help calm down your nervous system, which allows digestion and all other functions of the body to work optimally. Even a 1-minute stretch can change the status of your world & health.

  6. Sleep 7-9 hours. Research shows that sleeping is essential for our body to repair and reset.

  7. Take a 12-hour break from food. A nice break from eating overnight can allow some of your microbiome to repair the lining of your gut to support the immune system.

  8. Chew your food. Chewing your food until its liquid helps your body easily and digest and absorb nutrients in your body.

    1. Remember, we need nutrients for our gut and immune system to support us and keep us energized & well.

  9. Move your body. Research has shown that people who move their body more have a more diverse microbiome! YAY! The more diverse our microbiome is, the healthier and stronger we are - so aim to get at least 8k steps, lift weights, and/or sweat daily.

    1. Start small! Add 1k steps/day or 1 30-minute cardio session/week.
